| In Digne-les-Bains
and Gréoux-les-Bains,
fitness at its source.
”Taking the waters” was a delightfully old-fashioned
pastime at the beginning of the century and is more than popular
at the end of this millennium. Two of the three spa towns
of the Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur Region are in the
Alpes de Haute-Provence. The mountains a very short distance
away must surely have something to do with the properties
of the springs spouting from the rocks in Digne-les-Bains
and Gréoux-les-Bains. Their spas have proved their
curative efficiency and the fitness exercises are as popular
as the actual treatment because it is a real delight to come
and try the health-giving properties of hydropathic treatment
in the Provencal climate.
This year, these two "spa towns", already well known
and appreciated in Celtic and Roman times, not only treat
but entertain the tourist clientele. |

| DIGNE-LES-BAINS |

Located at the limit between the Alps and Provence,
this is the prefecture of the 04, the only department
in France which has a rate of zero out of a thousand
asthmatic children. An exceptional climate. Digne-les-Bains
has nearly 300 days of sun per year and has all
of the advantages of pure mountain air. Everything
is laid on to make an agreeable visit for patients
and tourists....

The village is located in the heart of the Valensole
plateau - renowned for its lavender - between the
Luberon and the Verdon and near the lakes and gorges
of the Verdon river.
