PRESENTATION |
|
| |
 Located
at the limit between the Alps and Provence, this is the prefecture
of the 04, the only department in France which has a rate
of zero out of a thousand asthmatic children. An exceptional
climate. Digne-les-Bains has nearly 300 days of sun per year
and has all of the advantages of pure mountain air. Everything
is laid on to make an agreeable visit for patients and tourists.
The reputation of the thermal waters that gush out
in the Vallon des Eaux Chaudes at Dignes-les-Bains dates back
to Antiquity. They were mentioned by Pliny the Elder, and
examined by scientists as early as the 17th century.
Gassendi himself praised their healing virtues.
In
the following century the town became a popular spa with the
military. Today, ultra modern buildings equipped with the
latest technology have been added to the hydropathic establishment
built in 1930.
The Digne-les-Bains thermal baths are open 10 months a year,
and more than 10,000 people come to take the waters every
year. Specially qualified staff welcome them and attend to
the needs of patients in a friendly atmosphere. Digne-les-Bains
is easy to get to from the A51 motorway, via the N85 national
highway.

THERAPEUTIC
INFORMATION |
|
| |

The waters of Digne-les-Bains emerge into the open air at a
temperature of nearly 40°. They contain sulphur, sodium
and chlorine, and are recommended for respiratory complaints
and rheumatology. Underwater massage and mud treatment are two
techniques in daily use.
The establishment is particularly suitable for children, and
is highly recommended for asthmatic children, because the Digne
air is exceptionally pure and contains very little humidity.
Anti-stress cures, comprising less medical treatment, can also
be arranged.

FITNESS
CURE |
|
| |
To take
a fitness cure, all you need is a certificate from your usual
doctor certifying it will not endanger your health. You are
then free to choose the duration of your cure, usually one
to three weeks out of seven. An hour and a half of daily treatment:
underwater massage, application of thermal mud, aquagym, sweating
cubicle, etc. will soon bring you back to full fitness again.
